Prevalence of Rickets among Saudi Population in Arar, Saudi Arabia

Background Rickets is the most common non-communicable disease in pediatrics developing countries, often observed societies with strict vegetarian diets and not introduced to foods enriched vitamin D. This poses a barrier effective treatment, making it chronic subclinical disease. Objective: study aims assess prevalence of rickets among Saudi children infants Arar, Arabia, identify risk factors, symptoms. Methodology: cross- sectional conducted general population Arabia. Adult participants completed self-administrated questionnaire for their concerning rickets. All data was entered analyzed using SPSS 23 appropriate statistical methods description analysis. P-value less than 0.05 considered significance Results: The included 393 participants, 21.1% them were males 78.9% females. 51.9% aged between 20- 30 years old. 27.3% reported having child diagnosed Age at time diagnosis 12 months (63.4%), 12- 24 (31%) more (5.6%) children. Risk factors identified as D deficiency 81.7%, during pregnancy 78.9%, preterm labor 45.1% artificial breastfeeding 31% 91.5% improved after adherence treatment. Conclusion: Prevalence high, toddlers should be focus prevention strategies.
